The Slaps have dropped their fantastically autumnal new song, ‘Wettest Wing’. The band are continuing to explore their unique blend of atmospheric, jazz-flecked post-rock improvisation, and haunting folk influences. This mesh of sounds results in something threadbare and authentic, with the gentle shuffle of a snare drum underpinning chilly acoustic guitar and a melancholic lead vocal. They describe it as “a song of perpetual build and release. It is taking a walk, it is making a fire with wet wood, it is blue, it is water tension. It is a very capable song.” The band released the phenomenal EP, Mud Tracks, earlier this year and are currently on tour with Post Animal. -Dan Peeke
